It's no wonder fitness experts are hailing Pilates as the "perfect workout and most efficient exercise program." Because it is a low-impact "gentle-to-the-joints approach" to fitness, with an emphasis on the quality of movement (rather than endless repetitions to the point of fatigue), it's perfect for any age, body type or fitness level. At the risk of overstating, please let us reassure you: We have programs for everyone and every body: from couch potato to elite athlete. If you're looking for an incredibly effective exercise program combining core strength, flexibilty and endurance training, you'll certainly find that here. For those of you who have never done Pilates and are wondering "What the heck is it, anyway?" here's our "CliffNotes" way of summing it up:It combines the breathing, flexibility and toning components of yoga with the deepest core strength training you will find anywhere, emphasizing good posture and structural integrity. But a description of Pilates offers very little compared with experiencing it firsthand.
