Pilates Center Of Austin Staff

It goes without saying, but we will anyway... Your Pilates instruction is only as good as your Instructor. And the Certified Practitioners at the PCA are…Awesome! We keep hearing it over and over:

"I've never been with a teacher who is so tuned into my personal needs and goals."
“Pilates is a way of living, not a form of exercise. By coming to the PCA and working with Wendy and her fabulous Staff, I got my life back and avoided major surgery where they wanted to place a steel rod in my spine.”

From the moment you step through our door, you’ll feel the difference. No big gym vibes here…you’re not another member subscription to us. You’ll be welcomed as part of our “family”. And, we’ll stay with you every step of the way, to ensure you meet your fitness and wellness goals.

We’re ready when you are!

Why do I love teaching Pilates? It is amazing, inspiring and a blessing to me to see the life-changing work Pilates brings to each of my clients not only in their workouts but also in the practice of life. My greatest learning comes from the almost 20 years of being mentored by Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle, Master Teacher & Co-Founder of PCA, and her husband and Co-Founder, Michael Arbuckle. Apprenticing with Wendy and Michael has impacted, not only my teaching, but my life. The values of deep-hearted service, integrity, accountability, and a credo that guides me in my teaching every moment: that our clients are the experts in their journey to health and fitness; our job as Teachers, is to have their innate biointelligent wisdom come alive! When clients grab hold of that, transformation happens!! Their bodies and their life habits change, which empowers them to see newly that we are at our best when we discover our own inner teacher rather than just following instructions.

Gaye Greever McElwain

Gaye began dancing early in life and holds a Master of Fine Arts, Dance degree. She enjoyed a wonderful career as a professional dancer during which time she worked with numerous well known choreographers and performed in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. It was the dance community that introduced her to Pilates. When she began her Pilates certification 20 years ago, she realized she had the opportunity to learn from the best, Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle who created the Core Connections Teacher Training Program. Gaye first viewed Pilates from the perspective of a performing artist and athlete, but a cancer diagnosis taught her that Pilates can bring every person, regardless of physical ability, to a place of renewal and vitality. When Gaye isn't teaching Pilates, she enjoys time with her husband, family and friends; travel; hiking; cooking; and all things arts.

  • Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Houston Texas

I am joining Pilates Center of Austin as a highly specialized Pilates/movement coach/athlete and educator with a focus on working with clients who desire a more in-depth experience through fascial integration. Whether it is the nuances needed for highly effective post rehabilitation, the details to cross train with Pilates for enhanced athletic outcomes, or simply the focus, commitment, and drive to learn the Classical Pilates repertoire and beyond, through a fascial lens. In turn, you will discover the deeper athlete that exists in yourself.

Today, I come to PCA to share my knowledge and spirit with the clients who are so dedicated to their wellness. In addition, a strong belief that ongoing education, evidence-based practice and self-improvement are the best ways to set me apart from the “traditional” Pilates instructor. I specialize in one-on-one Pilates sessions and classes for conditions, sport specific injuries, dancers and anyone who desires a better way to know their body. It is my goal to bring functional movement to all areas of life to allow my clients to maintain a high quality of life.

Food for thought: Pilates is a journey. You’ve got to go all in.

Kendall Kibby-Deck

I am joining Pilates Center of Austin because my experience as a client was welcoming and supportive. I’m excited to bring the same energy to my clients.

My mission is to help people love themselves and spread joy. As a former hairdresser, I excel in communication and customer service. In addition to Pilates, I practice yoga and meditation, and my many interests include healthy eating, music, and gardening.

When we are happy in our bodies, we can be calm in our minds and open in our hearts. Having love and compassion for ourselves is the doorway through which we bring love and compassion into the world.

Laura Smith

  • Barre Above Certification
  • TRX for Yoga
  • Comprehensive Pilates Certification from Core Connections at Pilates Center of Austin with Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle
  • Continuing Education in Pilates for Neurological Conditions
  • Continuing education in Pre and Postnatal
  • Majored in Business Administration at UT-RGV, Edinburgh, Tx 1993

I am joining Pilates Center of Austin to help others create a balance in their bodies that will be able to recognise that movement should be fluid and effortless, making it what I call, “Effort with Ease”. My knowledge, experience, and personal struggles allow me to have more empathy and compassion for what others go through in their own struggles. With 9 herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, two rotator cuff tears, and a TFL tears, I have not had to have surgeries to repair any of these issues and doctors are still astounded that I can do some of the things I can do (shoulder stands, headstands, backbends) that they should not be possible or recommended. It’s all because of Pilates, Pilates has allowed me to utilise by body in a more enhanced but effortless way that helps facilitate movement with minimal exertion and maximum effect. Having over 20 years of experience of teaching Pilates and 23 years of practicing Pilates, I strongly feel that my method sets me apart from a traditional instructor as my clients have nicknamed me “the body whisperer “.

I specialize in one-on-one Pilates sessions and classes for conditions of the spine, pre-natal and post-natal, sport specific injuries, dancers and anyone who desires a better way to know their body.

As Joseph Pilates so eloquently said, “…change happens through movement and movement heals”.

Lara Bridger

  • Comprehensive Pilates Certification from Peak Pilates 2024
  • 500-hour certified Yoga Instructor 2013
  • Stage 4 cancer survivor
  • Dance enthusiast

I’ve always been a body nerd. In my past life as an ad exec, I also taught yoga. I’ve taken up dance late in life. And my idea of fun is watching YouTube videos about the serratus anterior. I am also a two-time cancer survivor—early-stage breast cancer and stage 4 colon cancer. Movement has healed me physically and mentally in so many ways. My body has been my greatest teacher. I’m excited to share some of the things that have helped me along the way and to learn from the amazing instructors and students here at Pilates Center of Austin.

I truly believe, as Pilates said, that “movement heals” and that a mindful movement practice is one of the most valuable gifts we can give ourselves. In group classes my goal is for you to leave feeling stronger, more flexible, grounded, and a little more knowledgeable about your body than you were before. And in private sessions I hope to partner with you to explore all the amazing possibilities your body holds, help you troubleshoot problems and develop healthier, happier movement patterns that make your life better and make you feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin.

Sheila McMillan

My transformative Pilates journey first began in 2009 in my hometown of Lake Bluff, IL. It was there that I learned the basic fundamentals while working on the mat. After growing up playing sports, yet struggling with mental illness and addiction, my journey into Pilates began with a personal quest for better physical and mental health. I was introduced to the reformer at Zenergy Pilates in Austin, Texas in 2018. I quickly became fascinated by the magic of an exercise system that not only strengthened my body, but also enriched my mind and spirit.

With a deep passion for holistic health and wellness, I have been touching lives through movement practice since 2021. I am a certified Pilates instructor with full comprehensive training through Peak Pilates in Austin, Texas. My expertise spans across all apparatus, including Cadillac and chair. I also specializes in Pre/Post-Natal Pilates. I believe there is power in the practice, and I am dedicated to helping others achieve their health and wellness goals.

Outside of the studio, I love to be outdoors. I enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and spending time with friends.
